    • Under the supervision of the Payroll Manager the Analyst will perform and lead all activities related to payroll processing and payroll tax accounting.
    • Perform all activities necessary to process bi-weekly payroll and off cycles payment for both union and administrative groups.
    • The analyst will assist the Payroll Manager with compliance, payroll accounting, payroll tax, and ensuring processes and procedures are up to date and implemented.
    • This position is also responsible for providing effective day-to-day execution of payroll tax processes and activities.
    • Accountable for payroll tax payments and filing, audits and accurate tax compliance and reporting results.
    • Perform data entry and demonstrates strong problem solving skills to troubleshoot payroll and tax related problems.


    • Payroll tax background in a multi-state environment, knowledge of regulatory compliance, reciprocity, and local tax rules
    • Working knowledge with SAP Payroll system and ADP Tax Filing
    • Strong computer skills and the ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Standard business skills, team player vision and fact finding ability required
    • Possess excellent communication and customer service skills
    • Awareness and working knowledge of tax rules and state regulations
    • 5+ years’ experience calculating and processing payroll
    • Experience working with payroll systems
    • Self-starter, team player and highly motivated
    • Excellent processing skills and attention to detail
    • Perform regular payroll department operations.
    • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
    • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
    • Identify and resolve systems issues that could impact payroll processing
    • Develop and maintain payroll processing procedures
    • Create and maintain reports to maintain of payroll processing data integrity
    • Understand proper tax treatment and processing requirements for wages and employer paid benefits
    • Having an Canada payroll experience will be a plus
    • Must have the ability to react in a timely manner to tax issues
    • Ability to prioritize workload while meeting deadlines
    • Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance
    • Receive and document any necessary approvals prior to processing commissions, payroll and any non-standard payments
    • Perform proper protocols for treatment of unclaimed payroll checks
    • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting (W-2, W-2c, etc.)
    • Work with accounting team to calculate and update any accruals for bonus or commission payments
    • Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed
    • Process manual checks/ off cycles when needed
    • Liaises with ADP and agencies on all tax related rates or issues
    • Oversee vendor in the submission of federal, state, and local tax filings on a biweekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to ADP
    • Reconcile quarterly and year end wages and taxes for 940, 941, W-2’s and State returns
    • Perform quarterly and annual tax reconciliation of quarterly tax returns and W2 filings following the documented SOX processes.
    • Ensure that all tax returns have been filed correctly by ADP and that all filings are complete and accurate.
    • Prepare W-2 corrections as needed after the reconciliation of all state/local/federal agency returns are filed, and ensure any necessary amendments are filed in a timely manner
    • Maintain up-to-date state unemployment rates in the PeopleSoft system, as well as outsource vendor system (ADP Smart Compliance)
    • Participate in projects and audits by researching, analyzing and compiling reports and liaises with applicable department
    • Conduct SAP interface testing working with HR and IT as needed
    • Communicate with various levels of management and taxing authorities on a regular basis regarding tax-related information and associated research
    • File state/local applications for registration in new jurisdictions for new or existing businesses. Maintains data base of all company ID’s. Complete “Add Jurisdiction’ forms as necessary. Submit name changes for existing companies when notified by the Tax department of any changes
    • Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned
    • Coordinate and oversee payroll tax audits conducted internally or by taxing authorities
    • Provide all reports, tax filings and other general information as requested by the auditors
    • Work with ADP to request reports as necessary
    • Provide additional information as required by auditors
    • Forward all tax notices and letters to ADP as required
    • Issue W-2C’s when necessary
