    • The Air Conditioning Operator Mechanic will perform maintenance and repair on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, and be on call for emergency services as required Other duties include testing and adjusting equipment for proper operating characteristics and optimum performance. This is a rotating shift job
    • Repairs, overhauls, maintain, and services commercial industrial and heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems and refrigeration units. Troubleshoots and located malfunctions, diagnoses problems, and determines appropriate repairs
    • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces thermostats, pressure stats, relays, switches, and electrical wiring
    • Repairs or replaces compressors and components, electric motors, fans, belts, and pulleys
    • Services and repairs evaporators, condensers, and receivers. Repacks valves, lubricates moving parts, replaces filters, and cleans coils
    • Works from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal and written instructions
    • Repairs components within a system to include transformers, motors, electrodes, solenoids, rheostats, and aqua stats
    • Responds to after normal working hour’s call-outs as needed
    • Assists other trades and crafts personnel in their daily operations
    • Follows established safety procedures and utilizes safety protective equipment and clothing pertaining to particular trades or skills
    • Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed
    • Performs other tasks as directed


    • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
    • Candidates must be able to demonstrate basic skills by written and field verification
    • Demonstrated ability to develop a thorough understanding of the processes and equipment operation and understand how safety can be impacted
    • Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays. Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability and willingness to work overtime as needed
    • Excellent observation skills
    • Adaptable and strong willingness to learn
    • Able to work in a fast-paced, changing manufacturing environment
    • Understanding of ESHA and other regulatory issues
    • Previous experience working as an HVAC Technician
    • Universal Refrigeration License or able to obtain within 6 months of employment
    • HVAC Licensed by the State of Virginia or West Virginia
    • Basic mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot
    • Experience with safety programs in an industrial environment
    • Required Years of Experience
      • Two years verifiable experience as a HVAC Technician
    • Required Education
      • High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED)    
      • Universal Refrigeration License or able to obtain within 6 months of employment
