Purpose and Summary of position:

  • Develop plans to optimize monthly tow production by creating detailed production schedules for métiers/lines to meet customer APO demand forecast and achieve working capital targets, sales goals, and inventory targets.
  • Lead and manage weekly meetings with site production team to agree on production schedules, metier changes, production rates, planned and unplanned maintenance, outages, trials, etc.
  • Track and monitor daily production quantities per item to ensure orders and inventory goals can be meet as planned. Adjust production schedules and material have-ready-dates as needed to meet customer demand, working with Sales Managers as needed.
  • Develop STO plan and schedule re-supply shipments to regional distribution warehouses and/or other sites. Create STO’s to meet schedule and track vessel booking confirmations and departure/ arrival dates to ensure fulfillment.
  • Create tow and dope process orders in SAP as required in accordance to production schedules. Create tow recipes per item and metier and maintain them based on actual productivity.
  • Monitor inventory levels per item, review aged and quality status in SAP. In coordination with shipping and quality areas, ensure that FIFO picking is followed when shipping and confirm proper disposition of scrap or special inventory items.
  • Learn other tow site planning processes to provide back-up coverage for other Schedulers as needed (vacations, etc.).
  • Lead special projects or initiatives for continuous improvement for Six Sigma efforts or best practice implementation. Present project, results and recommendations to higher management.
  • Ability to perform statistical analysis and make recommendations for improvement. Support planning team with analysis and collaborative supply chain planning activities including assisting with sales meetings and S&OP planning sessions.


Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  

  • Excellent math and logical skills required. Must have a true desire to work with numbers and people.
  • Expertise/knowledge in a manufacturing environment or previous production planning experience
  • Ability to balance many competing demands at the same time; high degree of organization
  • Quick to understand and learn and independent starter
  • SAP knowledge of PP including STOs, APO, Planning and Scheduling, and inventory/warehouse management.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication and relationship skills; requires regular communication with colleagues in the US, Mexico, and Belgium within team, extending to Sales, CS, manufacturing, Logistics and Business personnel.
  • Strong presentational skills
  • Ability to make quick, logical decisions to be able to manage and implement unplanned changes to schedules.
  • Ability to run SAP BI reports
  • Experience in export shipment process from initial booking through delivery of containers

Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  

  • Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification, Lean Certification
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Supply Chain Certification- CPIM- APICS

Required Years of Experience:

  • 3/5 years in Manufacturing or Planning 

Required Education:

  • BS/BA required, MBA desired
