Purpose and Summary of position: 

  • Celanese's Business Strategy & Planning team is responsible for developing and deploying strategies to protect and grow the ~$4 billion Acetyl Chain business.
  • Lead organic and inorganic growth strategy projects for the Acetyl business. Strategize at the macro level as well as for more tactical outcomes.
  • Structure complex problems, gather and analyze large amounts of data and information from a variety of sources, and deliver insights and recommendations to Celanese's Executive Leadership Team.
  • Identify and evaluate organic business growth opportunities as well as acquisition, partnership and investment opportunities with a bias towards actionable intelligence and/or results.
  • Serve as a resource to the Acetyl Chain on areas requiring ad hoc financial analysis as well as sales & operations planning.
  • Support and actively engage in the negotiation of major supply & purchase contracts.


Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  


  • Build a strong working knowledge of the Acetyl Chain businesses and stay current on industry trends including customer & competitive landscapes
  • Proven track record of establishing analytical frameworks, conducting complex business analyses and synthesizing analysis into business insights:
  • External industry & market research
  • Value chain & profit pool analysis
  • Competitive analysis (cost curves, differentiation, etc.)
  • Value proposition development
  • Financial forecasting
  • Valuation (DCF & other approaches)
  • Sound business judgment—ability to consider & balance risks and issues arising from various areas (supply, demand, accounting, legal, tax)
  • Ability to build consensus and influence across the organization from business unit Presidents to plant personnel
  • Creating Board of Director level presentations / deliverables for internal and external audiences
  • Contributing to the strength of BSP’s team culture and community
  • Travel ~20%


Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Prior experience in the chemicals, industrials or related B2B industries a plus
  • Prior contract and other negotiations experience a plus
  • Prior business partnership (joint development, joint venture, M&A, etc.) formation experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of SAP, and/or other financial & CRM systems a plus


Required Yrs Exp:

  •  5+ years of prior corporate strategy, industrials consulting, business analytics, financial planning & analysis and/or relevant industry experience


Required Education:


  • 4-year Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, business, finance, or other relevant field
  • MBA or other relevant Masters program preferred
