Responsibilities:

Purpose and Summary of position:

Under direction of Team Leader, the Production Operator will monitor, maintain, and control all equipment and processes within their assigned area.  The Production Operator will employ the use of Standard Operating Procedures, Shiftly Operating Instructions, and Process Checksheets to achieve safe and reliable performance of their equipment with good quality results.  The Production Operator will utilize Standard Work Practices to safely prepare equipment for maintenance, hand the equipment over to maintenance resources, and restore equipment after servicing or maintenance.  Production Operators are expected to maintain proficiency in those operating areas on which they are qualified through participation in periodic training sessions, self-study, on-the-job training, and participation in safety/quality improvement programs.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  

  • Abilty to learn common process equipment (valves, heat exchangers, pumps, dryers, tanks, etc.);
  • Basic computer understanding (MS office); Solid written and verbal communication skills;
  • Abilty to work well as a team member and individual contributor;
  • Industrial safety knowledge;
  • Solid problem solving and troubleshooting skills;
  • Ability to work in industrial environment including ability to ascend/descend ladders and stairs;
  • Capability to learn how to read technical drawings, documents, and diagrams;

Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Associate's Degree in technical field with strong background in engineering/mathematics or technical industrial training

  • Previous leadership experience through managerial, military service, civic functions, or education

  • Prior experience working as an operator in chemical manufacturing plants

  • Prior experience working as a mechanic, electrician, or instrumentation technician

     

     

Required Yrs Exp:

  • 2 yrs chemical process operator highly desired
    Equivalent experience in translatable field acceptable

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
