    Responsibilities:

    Purpose and Summary of position:

    Installs, services, and repairs process equipment components associated with valves, pumps, piping systems, actuators, filtration systems, tanks/vessels, pressure relief devices, pumps consistent with chemical industry.  Uses gauges and other test instruments to diagnose malfunctions and hand and power tools to disassemble, repair, and reassemble system components.  Conduct inspection of mechanical and other equipment typical of a chemical facility.  Coordinate with the production and other departments for feedback on the functionality of machinery.  Uses RCA thinking on most failures to correct and prevent reoccurrence.  

    Qualifications:

    Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  

    • Works safely each day performing industrial maintenance activities – no unsafe behaviors - positive and good safety mindset.
    • Conducts all tasks in adherence with safe behaviors and written procedures.
    • Properly evaluates and completes Safe Work Permits and provides good SWP documentation and close out.
    • Maintains good housekeeping standards on job sites and in shop area.
    • Demonstrates basic job skills and knowledge of equipment and maintenance tasks.
    • Capable of learning new tasks quickly. Enters time in SAP and documents most work activities in SAP (as found and as left conditions, level 1 RCA on failures).
    • Installs, services, and repairs process equipment components (valves, pumps, piping systems, actuators, filtration systems, pressure relief devices, etc.) consistent with chemical industry.
    • Maintains central steam and cooling chemical water treatment systems, as well as other systems.
    • Uses gauges and other test instruments to diagnose malfunctions and mechanic hand and power tools to disassemble, repair, and reassemble system components.
    • Intalls and replaces equipment components using hand and electric trucks, fork lifts, and dollies.
    • Fabricates, assembles, and tests parts as needed, such as various pumps, valves, heaters, compressors, and other mechanical system parts using metal fabricating tools, common hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
    • Replaces fuses, light bulbs, circuit breakers, electric switches, and other electrical
      equipment following electrical specifications. May requisition equipment, materials, and supplies.
    • Conducts inspections of mechanical and other equipment typical of a chemical facility.
    • Coordinate with the production and other departments for feedback on the functionality of machinery and equipment to help resolve equipment problems.
    • Ability to read and follow flow diagrams, mechanical configuration drawings and P&ID drawings.
    • Demonstrates basic job skills and knowledge of equipment and maintenance tasks.
    • Capable of learning new tasks quickly.
    • Enters time in SAP and documents work activities.
    • Ability to use hand and electric trucks, forklifts, and dollies.
    • Ability to fabricate, assemble, and tests parts as needed, such as various pumps, valves, heaters, compressors, and other mechanical system parts using metal fabricating tools, common hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
    • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
    • Capable of learning new tasks quickly. Ability to work overtime when called upon.

    Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  

    • Bachelor’s degree or an associate’s degree in mechanical technology with 2 years of experience as a maintenance worker.
    • Knowlegible of SAP or computerized maintenance systems.
    • Certified Welding experience.
    • Electrical knowledge and experience.
    • Crane operator and rigging certification.

    Required Years Expereince:

    • 4 years of general/industrial maintenance and repair; equivalent combination of experience and education;

    Required Education:

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent
