Responsibilities:

Lead all processes related to applicable compliance requirements for safety and industrial health, environmental, and quality initiatives; helps drive site safety initiatives and site stewardship culture. Drive improvement of Environmental, Health and Safety processes at the Shelby facility enabling the site’s continuing transformation toward a Celanese zero-injury, zero environmental impact culture consistent with Celanese global standards of practice; Complete root cause investigations for incidents.
Serve as a resource for other manufacturing sites within the business in high quality execution of environmental, safety and health process. Identify best practices and facilitate the use of those practices at other facilities.
Provide technical expertise, services and consultation on specific programs.
Provide oversight for selected EH&S processes as directed by supervisor. 
Coach and mentor site personnel in the effective implementation of EH&S processes and principles.
Calibrate delivery of EH&S systems routinely through field audits, focused assessments, self-assessments, and a high level of field presence. 

Monitor/communicate trends, expectations, and needs regularly both horizontally and vertically and take required action.

Qualifications:

Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • People leadership experience.
  • Experience in managing environmental permits and programs for manufacturing location; Experience in continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated 5 years of experience of progressive responsibility within a chemical manufacturing facility.
  • People development and team building skills
  • Process safety responsibility and high level of engagement on safety programs.
  • Effective communication skills -- with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong troubleshooting and computer skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple /priorities to help achieve objectives and long-term vision.
  • Experience with statistical methods and root cause analyses.
  • Batch polymerization experience

Required Yrs Exp:

5 years

 

Required Education:

Bachelor degree or above in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Safety Management, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry or a related field with appropriate experience
