Purpose and Summary of position:

  • Develop solid understanding of industry related to key polymers, including costs, demand-supply drivers, market for recycled material and trends
  • Establish a good and collaborative relationship with existing, new suppliers

  • Forecast events through analysis of data, foresee comparative negotiating ability of suppliers and prepare control strategies

  • Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms

  • Establish a network with internal customers, Procurement colleagues, Plant Engineers, Legal and Finance to develop and implement procurement strategies

  • Examine and test existing contracts, finalize new contracts to secure supply

  • Control spend and deliver productivity cost savings year over year on key categories across North America

  • Communicate and align category sourcing strategies with key business stakeholders




Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  

  • Knowledge of key polymers
  • Understanding of the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process
  • Strong Negotiation skills
  • Strong computer skills-Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Strong communications skills; English language fluency a must
  • Spanish language skills required
  • Self directed

Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  

  • Working Knowledge of SAP Procurement Systems
  • Experience working with Legal and Finance team on regional and global contracts
  • Experience in management and implementation of new initiatives
  • Experience in working in polymer plant / with polymer plant personnel

Required Years Experience:

  • 5 Years experience in a related field or chemical industry

Required Education:

  • Bachelors Degree
