Responsibilities:

Purpose and Summary of position:

Carry out assigned responsibilities to facilitate accurate and timely closing of general ledgers each month, including:

  • Perform all close steps associated with the variable close for the Cangrejera plant.
  • Perform all activity associated with the month-end close for Inventory.
  • Recording accruals and other adjustments using journal entries.
  • Reviewing assigned accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Preparing / reviewing balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Reviewing legal entity/plant expenses using financial reports to identify potential errors.
  • Communicating issues to internal customers (plant/business line controllers, corporate accounting) or other functions, as needed.
  • Identifying, solving and/or escalating acounting issues to Team Lead/Manager.
  • Continuously improving closing processes and quality
  • Ensuring compliance with policies/procedures and internal controls.
  • Assisting with special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  

  • Microsoft Excel - Advance skill level
  • SAP - System Applications Products or other ERP

Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of basic accounting concepts, including cost accounting.
  • SAP (or other ERP) experience is helpful.
  • Curious to understand "why" and questions existing processes.
  • Exhibits a positive, can-do attitude and approaches responsibilities with an open mind
  • Demonstrates a healthy skepticism and effective problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Follows through on commitments and demonstrates ownership of results.
  • Advanced degree or CPA a plus
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Required Years Experience:

  • 3-5 years

Required Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
