Purpose and Summary of position:

Under the direction of the Maintance Team Leader, Analyzer Technicians are expected to maintain and repair all process analyzers, including process gas chromatographs, continuous process analyzers, which includes: IR, NIR, UV, absorption analyzers, oxygen analyzers (paramagnetic, zirconium oxide, and electrochemical), and waste water analyzer systems, as used for safety and shutdown control, personnel monitoring, environmental monitoring, product quality, and process efficiency.

  • Safely maintain, calibrate, and repair all process analyzer systems.
  • Document and maintain calibration and maintenance records.
  • Perform root cause analysis on analyzer failures and problems.
  • Provide coverage for: weekends and call-outs, 24-hour start-up, holiday and inclement weather.
  • Implement additions or deletions to the warehouse stock of spare parts.
  • Maintain and support all equipment associated with process analyzer systems.   



Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  

  • Proven mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of the proper use of electrical test equipment, hand tools and power tools.
  • Working knowledge of electrical test equipment.
  • Ability to provide plant-wide maintenance coverage on a 24-hour basis using pagers and rotating weekend duty.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Must be willing to work overtime when required
  • Must possess the ability to work in a safe manner

Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Experience with Applied Automation gas chromatographs.
  • Experience with maintenance and repair of CEMS analyzers
  • Experience with IR, NIR, UV and O2 analyzers
  • Experience in process operation or process control. 
  • Experience with SIS systems
  • Knowledge of proper handling and disposal of environmentally hazardous substances. 
  • Knowledge of ISO policies and procedures.
  • Experience with root cause failure analysis.
  • Experience with SAP business systems.

Required Years Expereince:

  • 5 year minimum Petrochemical or Refinery Analyzer Maintenance

Required Education:

  • Associates Degree in Electronic Engineering or Instrument Technology
