Responsibilities:

Purpose and Summary of position:

 

The Sr. Manager/Manager Procurement, Acetyl Logistics, will develop near and long-term strategies working with the Global Director Procurement, Logistics and the businesses with a continuous outward look at the industry to understand key trends and how that may influence contracting strategies and changes in how services are purchased to deliver a sustainable competitive advantage and maximum financial returns for the company. 

 

The successful candidate will drive productivity and maintain a low-cost position. Procurement at Celanese is a profit center, not a cost center. It is expected to be strategic in nature and always looking for long-term cost savings. The Sr. Manager/Manager Procurement, Acetyl Logistics must have excellent negotiation skills and the procurement organization is expected to deliver breakthrough savings.

 

This position must be able to:

  • Lead and develop direct reports and work closely with the business to understand their needs.
  • Maintain compliance to all internal SOX, Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Have the ability to be a change agent who will look for and drive new and best practices to deliver leading performance in the area of Logistics.

 

The candidate chosen should have experience acting as the negotiation lead for contracts in the $1.5 – $2MM range and must have experience in the negotiation of multi-year contracts valued at up to $10MM or more, including terminals and warehousing.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  

  • Develop and execute major negotiation strategies as well as supervising lower value contract negotiation with various vendors for all modes of transportation and storage. 
  • Ensures policies & procedures and Procurement Execution Plans are formally implemented to comply with company audit requirements. 
  • Responsible for year over year spend savings. 
  • Maintains critical strategic supplier relationships to continually dialogue and develop “leading edge” ideas to further advance and create long term competitive advantage for the businesses. 
  • Identify, evaluate and select suppliers based upon previous performance and established criteria which will result in “value creation” and competitive advantage. 
  • Develop direct reports for experiential knowledge and career progression. 
  • Protection of Celanese IP (Intellectual Property) 

Required Years Experience:

  • 10+ years of commercial experience in the chemical/bulk transport and/or storage industry. 
  • Excellent contractual, analytical and negotiation skills. 
  • Knowledge of insurance, indemnification, warranties, Inco Terms, etc. 
  • Ability to interface and communicate clearly and effectively (both orally and in writing) 
  • Solid knowledge around the global chemical industry. 
  • Strong conflict resolution skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and cross-culturally with colleagues and suppliers globally. 

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or technical area (Engineering, Chemistry, etc.) 
  • MBA preferred
