Overview:

To ensure efficient and safe power generation operations, consider the following responsibilities of Utilities Operations Team Captain:

  • Oversee daily operations of power generation facilities to ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor equipment performance and conduct regular inspections to prevent downtime.
  • Manage and train staff on safety protocols and operational procedures.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules and troubleshoot equipment issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards.
  • Prepare reports on operational efficiency and recommend improvements.

Responsibilities:

In fulfilling their role, Utilities Operations Team Captain perform various specific tasks including:

  • Scheduling and overseeing the routine inspection and maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment within Utilities.
  • Implementing and supervising operational and safety procedures to adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Analyzing operational data and reports to optimize performance and reduce operational costs.
  • Liaising with external suppliers and contractors to secure essential supplies and services.
  • Responding to emergency situations or equipment failures with effective problem-solving and leadership.
  • Meeting with staff regularly to discuss progress towards goals, changes in protocols, or updates in industry standards.

Qualifications:

To qualify for the position of Utilities Operations Team Captain, candidates typically need the following educational background and certifications:

  • Substantial experience, usually 5-10 years, in power plant operations or a similar industrial setting.
  • Professional certification in plant operations or facility management can be advantageous.
  • Strong leadership skills and prior supervisory experience are essential.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific software and strong analytical abilities to manage operational data.

This role requires a combination of technical expertise, management skills, and adherence to safety standards to ensure the effective and efficient operation of power generation facilities. A powerhouse supervisor must be a decisive leader capable of operating in high-stress environments while maintaining focus on the broader energy production goals.

 

This Virginia position pays between $80,100 and $107,400 and annual bonus eligibility. Actual pay may vary based on experience, qualifications, and market factors.
