Overview:

The Manager, Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager is a key member of the site leadership team who enables safe, reliable, and sustainable operations at the Florence Compounding facility. The role exists to build and implement systems and conditions for success, where people are empowered to make safe decisions, risks are understood, and learning is continuously applied.

This role integrates environmental, health, and safety excellence into the way work is performed, supporting both compliance and operational performance through a Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) mindset.

This role will be on-site at the Florence, Kentucky location. 

Responsibilities:

Key Accountabilities

Leadership & Culture

  • Foster a culture where safety is a value and learning are prioritized over blame.
  • Support leaders and teams in understanding how work is actually performed and where risk exists.
  • Enable open reporting and psychological safety across all levels of the organization.
  • Actively participate as a member of the site leadership team, influencing decisions through an EHS lens.

Environmental Stewardship & Compliance

  • Ensure systems are in place to meet all applicable environmental regulations and requirements.
  • Own environmental permitting strategy, including applications, renewals, and compliance assurance.
  • Build constructive and transparent relationships with regulatory agencies.
  • Focus on creating systems that make compliance the natural outcome of work.

Operational Integration & Risk Management

  • Spend time in the field understanding normal work and identifying opportunities to reduce risk.
  • Partner with 24/7 and CORE team to design practical solutions that fit the way work is executed.
  • Integrate EHS into capital projects and operational changes early in the process.
  • Ensure emergency preparedness systems are realistic, tested, and continuously improved.

Learning & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead learning teams and incident reviews with focus on system improvements.
  • Ensure learning is shared and applied across the site and broader organization.
  • Shift focus from reacting to failures to strengthening system resilience.

Capability Building

  • Develop EHS capability at all levels of the organization.
  • Deliver engaging and practical training aligned with real work conditions.
  • Coach leaders on how to effectively lead safety and environmental performance.

Success Measures

  • Sustained reduction in injury and incident rates (TRIR, LTIR).
  • No significant environmental compliance violations.
  • Strong audit performance and timely closure of actions.
  • Increased reporting, learning, and engagement indicators.
  • Demonstrated improvement in system reliability and risk reduction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in EHS in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with environmental regulations, permitting, and compliance systems.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in plastics compounding or chemical manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and Responsible Care systems.
  • Experience with HOP or similar human performance approaches.
