Overview:

Lead Shipping Team to make impact on loading and shipping demands while ensuring a safe manufacturing environment by:

  • Providing leadership for people, core principles, and a strong presence in driving safety culture
  • Managing the 1st line of defense for loading/shipping issues
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and, federal standards
  • Increase productivity and performance of loading team.

Responsibilities:

Routine Activities

  • Provide guidance and adjust manpower on activities for the loading schedule and ensure compliance with safety & quality standards.
  • Routine activities include:
    • Conducting SQRE meetings for unit and loading team.
    • Reviewing loading demand schedules and adjusting as necessary.
    • Monitoring loading/switching processes and resolving any issues that arise.
    • Ensuring compliance with safety and federal regulations.
    • Communicating with other departments as needed.
    • Communication with site partners.
    • Communicates weekly equipment status/issues.
    • Coordinates site partner maintenance activities with ops team.
    • Coordinates inhibitor delivery based on loading schedule.
    • Ensures sustainability of Shipping 5s program.
    • Performs evaluations of program components and provides feedback to team.

ADHOC Activities (as needed)

  • In addition to routine activities, the Team Captain may be required to perform additional tasks as needed:
    • Leading problem-solving initiatives when unexpected issues arise.
    • Coordinating special projects or initiatives related to equipment and loading efficiency improvement.
    • Assisting in training new team members or providing refresher training as needed.
    • Participating in unit RCA.

Decision-Making Authority

  • Situation or delay criticality of an issue impacting Safety, Reliability, Efficiency.
  • Immediate decision making authority within scope of responsibility.
  • Escalation process if beyond scope.
  • Prioritizes loading schedule in alignment with company targets.
  • Implements corrective actions based on key learnings.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to lead team members in problem solving activities
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Key Attributes

  • Strong leadership skills/Managerial experience in Shipping/Rail
  • Good communication skills
  • Problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Understanding of DOT regulations
  • 1-5 years of supervisor experience in Shipping Services/Plant experience 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required 
  • Associate degree or higher a plus
  • Solid computer skills, SAP / ADP experience a plus
  • Certifications (e.g., HazMat, DOT) required
