Responsible for directing and maneuvering railcars safely within industrial railyard. Ensures efficient rail movements, loading/unloading coordination, and adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
Operate switches and signals to control railcar movements
Operate locomotive
Couple/uncouple railcars manually or with tools
Perform billing of railcars before shipment via SAP
Communicate with switching team, loading team and, logistics team.
Inspect railcars and tracks for defects or hazards
Perform routine maintenance on locomotives.
Perform weekly, monthly safety checklists and equipment inspections
Direct train positioning via hand signals or radio
Maintain a clean and safe work area
Perform switching within federal guidelines
Working Conditions:
Outdoor environments in all weather
Evening schedule and weekends as needed.
High-risk, fast-paced setting requiring vigilance
Regular use of gloves, ankle high steel-toe boots, helmets, and safety vests
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Knowledge of rail operations and FRA safety standards
Physical fitness for outdoor, hands-on work
Detail-oriented with strong situational awareness
Clear communication and ability to follow instructions
Decision-making and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with PPE and working near heavy equipment
