Overview:

The Quality Assurance / Quality Control Lab Technician performs an essential role in the BCP Quality Management program. This role is responsible for performing analysis on routine and non-routine samples from the processes, production unit, shipping vessels, documenting and communicating analytical results in a timely manner, and providing documentation and records related to analytical data. The QA/QC Lab Technician also generates product Certificates of Analysis to customers based on product specifications and verifies raw material quality based on vendor COAs. 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Performs accurate and timely analytical testing for a wide variety of product release evaluations.
  • Facilitate and support the electronic generation of quality certificates and notifications (QA function).
  • Operates a variety of analytical instrumentation including general routine maintenance.
  • Utilizes Statistical Process Control for the monitoring and assessment of analytical instrumentation and methods.
  • Communicates information related to product quality with shipping, operations, process chemists and QA.
  • Quantitatively prepares analytical standards and solutions for use in calibration of laboratory and on-line analyzer equipment.
  • Provides after hours and weekend QC lab coverage in support of manufacturing site.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • General foundation of chemistry nomenclature and safe handling of chemicals.
  • Working knowledge of analytical techniques including wet methods, chromatography, and various other methods.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment and interact with external resources. 
  • Good Communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to varied customer situations and expectations.
  • Maintains good housekeeping practices to ensure integrity of results and compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety practices and policies.  
  • Computer software skills including spreadsheets, word processing and power point. Working knowledge of chromatography software and LIMS.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Knowledgeable in statistical methods of data evaluation.

Desirable Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair common analytical equipment issues.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 compliance.
  • Familiarity with Agilent chromatography integration software – Open Lab.
  • Familiarity with LIMS software, such as Sample Manager.
  • HAZMAT training - sample packaging experience.

 Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience working in a quality assurance / quality control laboratory preferred.

Required Education

  • 2 yr. Chemical Lab Technology certificate/degree or equivalent experience.
