Overview:

This position operates and troubleshoots extrusion processes, monitors product quality, stages raw materials, performs various equipment field checks, manage the process for unloading bulk raw materials and performs various other duties involved in the production field. This position also includes packaging, playing a critical role in ensuring the quality, safety, and efficiency of their packaging operations. This is a critical role that represents the standard of Santoprene as it leaves the site going to customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and trouble shoot extrusion process equipment, in a safe, reliable, quality controlled and environmentally sound manner.
  • Operate the process by monitoring the equipment and adjusting ensure personal and equipment safety, proper quality, and to meet or exceed production metrics.
  • Responsible for frequent, routine surveillance rounds, process troubleshooting, quality analysis, equipment preparation and occasional minor maintenance repairs.
  • Ensure raw material feed and finished product handling is maintained on schedule by loading, communicating and coordinating with other operators.
  • Perform minor maintenance on process equipment and assist maintenance technicians.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Work in field environment.
  • Operate and maintain packaging equipment to ensure efficient and safe production processes.
  • Monitor product quality, packaging accuracy, and compliance with all safety and quality standards.
  • Executing preventive and corrective actions on packaging equipment.
  • Troubleshoot issues with equipment to include the technical requirements needed while interfacing with packaging control systems.
  • Effective oral and written communications, including effective meeting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others in a team environment, including working toward team goals.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, understanding, and commitment for health and safety of self, others and the surrounding communities and for the protection of the environment.
  • Ability to learn in a classroom setting and in a field training atmosphere.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and field outdoor settings.
  • Willing and able to work in inclement weather, climb structures and perform work at heights.
  • Must be willing to be electrically qualified in order to replace fuses, reset overload and minor electrical maintenance activities.
  • Willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime (voluntary/mandatory).
    • Shift rotation follows every other weekend off schedule with 2 weeks on days and 2 weeks nights.

Qualifications:

  • Prefer 1-2 years of manufacturing experience, packaging or technical training in process/operations; skilled labor.
  • Prefer basic understanding of manufacturing operation desired (pumps, valves, vessels, heat exchangers).
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Initiative, motivation and self-discipline required to be successful in self-directed, team-oriented work environment.
  • Computer skills/aptitude and or proficiency on PC based systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities to effectively manage the needs in a fast-paced work environment while ensuring quality work and accurate results.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a contributing team member with a can-do attitude.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills and be safety minded.
  • Able to follow procedures and processes.
  • Able to learn troubleshooting techniques.
  • HS diploma (or GED); will substitute HS diploma for at least 10 years previous manufacturing experience.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude/skills beneficial for effective troubleshooting and repair to processes and equipment in a timely manner.
  • Process Technology Degree (desired).
