Celanese is urgently seeking an experienced, full-time Maintenance Planning & Scheduling Specialist to join our team at the Washington Works facility in Washington, WV.

 

Nestled on the banks of the Ohio River in Parkersburg, West Virginia, our Washington Works site is a proud cornerstone of the Mid-Ohio Valley community. Established in 1948, this 700-acre site is one of the largest Celanese manufacturing facilities globally, housing six different plants. Every year, we manufacture millions of pounds of essential products used in various automotive, food industry, construction, and household items.

 

As the Maintenance Planning & Scheduling Specialist, they will be responsible for the crucial task of combining available resources and needs based on the Active Executable Backlog to optimize maintenance efforts. This individual owns the scheduling of all planned maintenance work, managing resources to deliver value through a schedule that ensures safe and reliable unit operations. The scheduler gains alignment from the Asset Optimizer, Daily Execution Leader, and Maintenance Team Captain regarding the work orders for the weekly program, then develops this weekly maintenance plan. This plan defines the tasks required by 24/7 Unit Teams to properly release equipment and must be adjusted daily and weekly as needed due to unplanned events. Finally, the scheduler collaborates with the Maintenance Team Captain and Asset Leader to effectively utilize the schedule for Core and Central Maintenance Experts.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the coordination of maintenance and contractor activities to support Production objectives.
  • Review incoming work notifications & work orders for completeness & accuracy, and approve or reject, on a daily basis.
  • Convert approved Work Requests into Work Orders, validate or assign priority & revision code, & assign to appropriate maintenance planning group on a daily basis.
  • Manage the Backlog; ensure that preventive maintenance (PM) tasks are being scheduled and accomplished by maintenance and operations.
  • Authorize & release planned work orders.
  • Facilitate the weekly scheduling meetings and develop the weekly schedule.
  • Participate in the daily scheduling meetings and approve the daily schedule.
  • Communicate and review equipment preparation requirements with Operations and confirm that equipment is ready for maintenance work according to the schedule.
  • Confer with Production & Maintenance at the beginning of each day to review work from previous shifts, identify & respond to new emergencies, and adjust plan as necessary.
  • Provide communication link with all shifts on status of jobs completed and ongoing based on open communication & status updates.
  • Generate follow-up work orders for new scope of work, shop work orders, & emergency work orders.
  • Routinely review the work orders completed and TECO the work orders.
  • Participate in area’s Reliability Team meetings & assist in root cause failure analysis.
  • Participate in area project design reviews and provide input.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor of Science in Engineering related program preferred.
  • 3+ years manufacturing experience in operations or maintenance roles.
  • Must be computer literate and have proficient MS Office computer skills (Word, Excel, Project). SAP experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal, written, and presentation formats.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead through influence management to achieved desired results.
