Maintenance Team Captain/Supervisor

Overview:

The Maintenance Supervisor leads a multi craft maintenance crew and engages their team to perform their best in all aspects of their activities at the Narrows Celanese site. They use knowledge of the process, product, people and equipment to improve the reliability, quality and safety of the unit.  This role reports to the Site Maintenance Manager and works closely with the operations team, engineering and other supports functions at the Narrows VA site.

Responsibilities:

Stewardship – Engages team for zero incident culture

  • Creates safety culture within Maintenance teams on proactive hazard recognition and facilitation of safe work execution.

Quality – Ensures work quality (right the first time)

  • Provides oversight for quality on repairs (minimizes rework)
  • Holds team accountable for quality repairs and procedure adherence
  • Maintains high standard for housekeeping and job execution

Engagement – Creates an environment for teaching, coaching and learning

  • Advocates for both company and team needs
  • Works with others to solve problems and develop skills – stay in compliance
  • Engages mechanics in proactively make improvements.

Production/Reliability – Work Execution

  • Provides technical expertise level above craft
  • Manages work schedule compliance
  • Integrates central and core maintenance
  • Facilitates failure analysis and provides support on potential issues that could comprise the CORE principles

Strategy – Implements maintenance plans

  • Ownership of weekly schedule – provides input and feedback
  • Manages Area planner and ensure quality job plans are being developed
  • Manages multi-craft fully functional teams

Communication – Effective communication to key stakeholders

  • Communicates progress, needs, and gaps to partners and stakeholders
  • Provides updates on KPI’s
  • Escalates issues that can’t be solved with base resources regarding key activities of Stewardship, Quality, Reliability and Engagement
  • Shares and facilitates best practices between units and/or sites

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required 
  • Associate degree or higher a plus
  • Machinist / Millwright experience highly desirable 
  • 5+ years of experience as a maintenance mechanic
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role
  • Knowledge of and experience with continuous improvement practices
  • Solid computer skills, SAP experience a plus
  • Ability to build partnerships to achieve common goals
  • Ability to gather trust and confidence of others through honesty, integrity and authenticity
  • Ability to work efficiently, plan and prioritize to meet common goals
