Senior Associate Technician, Application & Customer Enabling Services

Overview:

The Senior Associate Technician will be working in a laboratory environment supporting the Emulsion Polymers Business application technology and technical service team located in Florence, KY.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing application testing under instructions/guidance of chemist or lab manager.
  • Evaluate emulsion products as well as formulating and testing emulsion-based adhesives, coatings and other compound products.
  • Collect data and organize it into spreadsheet tables and graphs.
  • Calculate and prepare basic formulations, document observations and prepare summary of data in a timely fashion (providing data for quick turn-around)
  • Be comfortable following methods and safety rules when operating small benchtop instruments in a laboratory environment (balances, pH meters, viscometers, mixers, testers etc.)
  • Take ownership of day-to-day maintenance of the application equipment and supplies to ensure smooth and safe operations of the lab and testing methods.
  • Participate in Safety Programs
  • Collaborate and coordinate with others in the team and the site regarding use of the lab spaces, equipment and supplies, as well as projects and activities.

Qualifications:

  • High school education required (chemistry/biology/physics classes desired)
  • Minimum 1-3 years experience in laboratory settings or QC labs or similar is preferred.  
  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts in emulsions, emulsion testing methods and formulating a plus.
  • Good MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills.
  • Attention to detail and follow test methods/protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to use typical laboratory equipment or similar.
  • Very good organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to work in a team environment that is supportive and inclusive.
