Overview:

The Reliability Engineer’s role is to ensure the Flake Unit process is meeting the on-stream reliability targets and anticipate potential emerging issues.   Will use knowledge of the process, product, people and equipment and utilize the RCA process to develop action plans to improve the reliability, quality and safety of the unit.  This role reports to the Unit Asset Leader and works closely with the unit team, maintenance, engineering and other supports functions at the Narrows VA site.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures emerging equipment reliability and maintenance issues are identified.   
  • Develops action plans to achieve results through development and management of PMs, identification of critical spares, and operational changes.  
  • Engage with 24/7 Team to identify and remove daily execution barriers.  
  • Conducts Field walkthroughs for hazard recognition, housekeeping, reliability centered rounds, PSSR, equipment related quality issues, etc. 
  • Define, update, and track alarm performance and changes, where needed.  
  • Establish and communicate equipment operating parameters for the 24/7 Team.      
  • Collaborates with Asset Leader to understand and set priority for equipment repairs impacting reliability.  
  • Coordinates with capital projects owners to create and review scopes, designs, and other elements of capital projects within the unit.   
  • Builds strategy around reliability system training and knowledge support. Supports 24/7 team training and progression program as reliability SME.  
  • Communicate with outside units to share best practices.   
  • Supports unit mechanics through training and knowledge transfer of equipment and the maintenance planning work process.
  • Utilize Management of Change system and MOC Core team member.
  • Assists in the development of energy isolation plans as needed. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years' experience.     
  • Experience with the Reliability Centered Maintenance process. Use of Root Cause Analysis methodology.
  • Experience with SAP. 
  • Candidate must have good technical writing and presentation skills. 
  • Strong computer skills a must. Excellent communication skills. 
  • Ability and willingness to work in team-based environment.
