Overview:

The Clear Lake Production Director will establish and successfully develop and execute the operations strategy for this flagship acetyls site. The ideal candidate is someone that is passionate about leadership development and engagement who can cultivate a culture of safety, collaboration, and operational excellence. This role will be responsible for leading the Methanol, Acetic Acid, Vinyl Acetate, Utilities, Shipping, and Main Lab Units and will report directly to the Senior Site Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a vision/strategy for the Clear Lake operations team that strives for flawless performance in Stewardship, Quality, Reliability, and Engagement that delivers value to the company on an annual basis. This will be achieved with engagement of all levels of the organization via a culture of trust, empowerment, and operational learning from those closest to the work.
  • Create a world class stewardship culture that strives for no harm to our employees, the environment, and the community where we operate. Work with the stewardship to create and drive strategies for continuous stewardship improvement. Ensures all areas operate within permit and regulatory limits.
  • Partner with the reliability and maintenance organization to deliver the highest level of equipment availability and optimize asset uptime and unit production volumes. Lead the teams to proactively identify, communicate, and resolve emerging risks.
  • Create an environment of operational excellence, driving 5S, continuous improvement, and unlocking discretionary effort from all members of the team.
  • Build and strengthen the capabilities of the operations team, creating opportunities for talent development and succession planning for the organization. Participate in talent acquisition and retention.
  • Contribute as a key member in building the site AOP and identify productivity and cost-effective opportunities to operate within the plan. Develop the team’s financial acumen.
  • Collaborate and closely communicate with key offsite stakeholders, including S&OP, corporate manufacturing services teams, and executive leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical or other related engineering field.
  • 10 years’ experience in the chemical industry, preferably in a commodity or intermediate chemicals setting.
  • 10 years commercial experience (procurement, sales leadership, and/or business leadership).
  • Strong communication skills (written/verbal).
  • Ability to successfully lead diverse groups towards a desired outcome through persuasion and influence.
  • Strong organizational development and leadership skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in organized fashion.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong team leadership skills.
  • Must have strong P&L focus, with solid understanding of balance sheet and cash flow concepts.
  • Able to manage and lead in a culturally diverse organization.
