Maintenance Technician (The Parts (Stores) Person)

Overview:

The Parts (Stores) Person is responsible for the timely and accurate handling, inventorying, and distribution of maintenance parts and materials in support of plant operations. This role ensures the maintenance team has the required components to perform repairs, maintenance, and project work efficiently. Generates quality records, updates files and information in LIMs database. 

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize SAP to accurately sign out and pick parts for various departments.
  • Create notifications for in-house repairs on equipment across the plant site.
  • Generate RFQ documents for shipping equipment to global destinations.
  • Collaborate with Shipping and Receiving to ensure uninterrupted operations during breaks, EDO, PTO, or holidays.
  • Expedite urgent orders to mitigate inventory depletion during equipment breakdowns.
  • Run and navigate SAP efficiently to access history, work orders, and reservations.
  • Track down missing orders to maintain required inventory levels.
  • Analyze and maintain required inventory levels to prevent stock outs.
  • Conduct plant-wide inventory counts using a forklift.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory control system.
  • Organize and relocate parts on shelves for optimal storage.
  • Update inventory records from AM4 and AM3 parts systems.
  • Locate parts using manual binders when SAP or internet systems are unavailable.
  • Provide efficient turnaround for part reservations needed for upcoming shutdowns.
  • Ensure all compressor parts are delivered on time prior to shutdowns.
  • Work closely with Engineering to maintain updated compressor parts lists and prepare repair shipments.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors.
  • Collaborate with Purchasers and MRO specialists for new part orders via email and phone.
  • Complete and submit parts warranty claims and returns in a timely manner.
  • Attend monthly meetings for new spare parts.
  • Develop and implement practices to reduce order preparation wait times.
  • Execute off-hours Catalyst shipments, coordinating with drivers via cell phone.
  • Adhere to dangerous goods shipment procedures.
  • Inspect shipments thoroughly before granting site access to ensure plant safety.
  • Efficiently offload pallets of Catalyst into Freezers.
  • Maintain precise documentation of paperwork and batch numbers for quality control.
  • Adjust lunch times and breaks to ensure seamless processing of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications:

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of plant experience
  • High school diploma
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Able to lift up to 50 LBS
  • Knowledge of industrial equipment and mechanical/electrical parts.
  • Experience with SAP or similar CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Available to work overtime when required.

 

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in supply chain, warehousing, or parts technology is an asset.
