Overview

Manufacturing Expert (Production Specialist): Ensures the unit is running at entitlement targets and anticipates to potential emerging issues. Understands technology of the process, product and equipment to effectively manage and solve problems. Monitors unit's KPI and KOP and develops action plan to achieve desired results. Builds strategy around training and knowledge support. Proactively addresses reliability/quality issues together with the 24/7 team.

 

The Production Specialist is an individual contributor working in a team of 9. The schedule is Monday through Friday, and will rotate an on-call schedule with 4 other staff, which typically involves answering occasional phone calls outside of normal work hours.

Responsibilities:

Routine Activities

  • Continuously monitors process, product and equipment to detect and anticipate emerging issues
  • Develop and implement training for the 24/7 and core team
  • Strong field presence and routine walkthroughs to detect anomalies / identify emerging issues
  • Technical resource for the 24/7 team and escalates items needing additional technical resources to resolve
  • Establish and communicate operating parameters for the 24/7 Team
  • Engage with 24/7 Team to identify and remove daily execution barriers
  • Define, update and track alarm performance and change where needed
  • Collaborates with Asset Leader to understand and set priority for equipment repairs
  • Performs troubleshooting in collaboration with the 24/7

AD-HOC Activities (as needed)

  • Initiates MOC’s and field walk down of implementation
  • Perform basic maintenance work / minor repairs to ensure a flawless execution of the SQRE plan
  • Develops action plans to achieve results
  • Adjusts key operation parameter to ensure production plan is reached or escalates if plan isn’t reached
  • Communicates issues or barriers with production schedule
  • Develop strategy and communicates executable plan for handling materials 
  • Participates in quality/reliability investigations
  • Initiates process safety bypasses and develops mitigation plans
  • Collaborates with core, unit and other units to develop and implement technical solutions

Qualifications:

Key Abilities and Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 7 years of Celanese Manufacturing experience (Chemical Unit) for internal candidates, or 10 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing facility for external candidates
  • Production KPI, schedule and production capabilities
  • Advanced process, raw material and product knowledge of the Chemical Unit
  • Troubleshooting skills and able to identify anomalies
  • Identifies hidden and emerging issues/ trends
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, changing, and challenging environment

Desired

  • Bachelor degree focused in engineering
  • Process Control experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
