The purpose of the Fixed Equipment Engineer at Celanese Canada ULC is to support all maintenance activities at the Edmonton facility. Minimize equipment downtime whenever possible through maintenance support. The Fixed Equipment Engineer is to uphold the continued and improved safety of all maintenance activities. The Fixed Equipment Engineer is to ensure equipment is maintained in the safest way possible to ensure the mechanical integrity of process handling equipment.
· Provide support to maintenance technicians, planners, schedulers, and supervisors in all maintenance activities. Examples include performing calculations, developing equipment repair scope, ensuring timely equipment repair, and creating equipment repair documentation.
· Develop creative repair strategies for unique equipment.
· Provide technical oversight of the Maintenance Quality Control Work Process to ensure the quality of maintenance.
· Provide technical support for and oversight of equipment repair and fabrication standards such as piping fabrication codes, valve selection specifications, maintenance manuals, and refurbishment specifications.
· Perform mechanical design and associated calculations to create or alter existing maintenance equipment and chemical handling equipment.
· Provide recommendations and guidance to Reliability and Operations departments with respect to prioritization of maintenance and the needs of equipment.
· Provide assistance in equipment repair to Inspections Group when reacting to mechanical damage found during equipment inspections.
· Participate in the Management of Change (MOC) process to ensure that changes made to the site are performed safely and all required follow up actions are identified and completed.
· Communicate with equipment vendors, repair contractors, and original equipment manufacturers to repair and upgrade equipment.
Examples of Specific Activities
· Provide official fabrication drawings, engineering specifications, and engineering tolerances to maintenance personnel during fabrication and refurbishment activities.
o Engage Reliability as needed for consultation and authentication.
o Route changes through the Management of Change (MOC) process as required.
· Provide official Replacement in Kind (RIK) / Replacement within Specification (RWS) documents to maintenance personnel during repair of existing assets.
o Engage Reliability as needed for consultation and authentication.
o Route changes through the MOC process as required.
· Provide clarification to maintenance personnel when confusion arises during maintenance such as:
o Fastener assembly torque / pre-load
o Appropriate parts to be installed
o Acceptable gaps, fits, clearances, etc.
· Provide specifications to Oilers for acceptable machinery lubricants.
o Engage Reliability as needed for consultation and authentication.
o Route changes through the Management of Change (MOC) process as required.
· Provide maintenance records to Reliability and Operations as required.
· Provide maintenance recommendations to Reliability and Operations as required.
