This is an onsite, in-person position located at: 9502 Bayport Blvd. Pasadena, Texas 77507

The Industrial Hygienist is a program owner, and develops and administers the Industrial Hygiene programs to ensure work practices and conditions are safe and all employees are trained in the safe work practices.

This senior level role will be ready to hit the ground running, will need to maneuver and navigate with limited guidance. The senior special will own procedure development and monitoring.

 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Ensures work conditions are safe and all units are equipped with the necessary protection equipment and are following procedures
  • Ensures compliance to Industrial Hygiene requirements by relevant authority and Celanese requirements
  • Develops and administers Industrial Hygiene initiatives and improvement ideas
  • Continuously assesses Industrial Hygiene Systems, reviews results, and implements measures to close the gaps
  • Shares Industrial Hygiene learnings across site and incorporates them into existing systems
  • Reviews new chemical request/approvals to assure risk are properly considered and mitigated
  • Reviews leading indicators and identifies areas of risk
  • Performs field assessments such as Exposure Assessments, Noise Surveys, and Risk Assessments.     
  • Administrative program owner for Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conversation, Asbestos Notifications, Radiation Safety Officer, Heat Stress Management, PPE Selection and Approval, and Respiratory Protection
  • Provides support in Occupational Safety Management and knowledgeable in OSHA regulations to ensure compliance
  • Conducts field audits, behavioral observation audits, risk assessment and mitigation strategies
  • Ensures safe work practices are being implemented in the field

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related study (such as chemistry, safety engineering, engineering, environmental science
  • CIH certified OR CSP certified
  • 5+ years of experience in Industrial Hygiene in a senior level role
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior level role in an industrial environment
  • Strongly-motivated
  • Previous experience working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience creating or developing Industrial Hygiene and safety procedures and training materials
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, SharePoint
  • Proven experience working within and collaborating in a team environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (formal or informal).
  • Experience multi-tasking and handling changing priorities.

Desired

  • Member of Professional Organization ABIH, ASSP (preferred)
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis
  • Have knowledge of human performance tools such as Situational Awareness, Dynamic Risk Assessment
  • Experience leading a team through change management process
