Responsibilities:

The Quality Control Technician supports manufacturing processes by performing routine in-process testing; finished product testing in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), protocols and product specifications; and by making decisions regarding product quality and inventory release. 

  • Generates quality records, updates files and information in LIMs database. 
  • The Quality Control Technician is an advanced user in LIMs with good overall computer proficiency since majority of equipment is computer based. 
  • Calibrates applicable equipment as per SOP and calibration schedule to demonstrate "fitness for use".
  • Performs basic trouble shooting of laboratory equipment and prepares equipment for maintenance activity.
  • The Quality Control Technician is involved in projects, investigations that require lab support and in continuous improvements (testing and method development).

Position requires teamwork and cooperation with other plant partners such as maintenance, operations and technical departments.  This position is staffed on a 24 hour/ 7-day basis via 12 hour rotating shifts. Position requires effective and timely communication with other plant personnel such as operations and technical group. 5R operations are additionally supported - training of 5R QC/extruder operators and calibration + troubleshooting of 5R lab equipment are performed by QC Technician.

Qualifications:

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Two-year technical diploma in NAIT/SAIT or bachelor’s degree
  • Able to work 12 hour rotating shift

 

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • 0-2 Years Manufacturing Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in science
  • Experience Chemical Technology or Plastics Technology program
  • Chemistry or Polymer background with laboratory experience
  • Experience in industrial production environment
  • Working knowledge of polymer testing
  • Experience with quality systems and compliance SAP and /or LIMS system

 

Hours of Work

This position requires shift work. The shifts will be rotating twelve-hour (days to night) shift schedule.
