Overview:

Provide leadership to the 24/7 operations team to meet both leading and lagging measures and KPI's that are part of the core's goals and objectives. 

Responsibilities:

  • Models Celanese leader expectations and actively coaches the chemical process experts to improve overall operational efficiency.
  • Ensures achievement of the four core principles of Stewardship, Quality, Reliability, and Engagement in fulfilling the production schedule and developing the team.
  • Sets high expectations; respect for PPE and safety rules, 100% right-first-time quality, respect for procedures and equipment and the plant.
  • Field presence, safety focus and leader of the team, knowledge provider, decision maker after the team completes troubleshooting effort, work order notification owner for the team
  • Bypass approval/notifications, Emergency and Security risks, C level RCAs.
  • Coordinates SOP updates with Learning Facilitator
  • Coordinates team member participation and participates in MOC, PHA, RCA etc. Sessions
  • Ensures product is first time right quality, and takes immediate action to resolve if issues arise. 
  • Communicates and escalates gaps if schedule is unable to be executed.  Communicate information from the core team (ex. tool box briefing, etc.)
  • Performs proper handover to the next Team Captain and Daily Executional Leader on emerging Quality, Environmental, or Reliability issues. 
  • Facilitate SQRE huddles
  • Evaluates, executes, and provides feedback on the production schedule.
  • Works to maximize production output with 24/7 team.
  • Engages in the day to day activity of each chemical operator and understands what constraints are preventing them from being successful. Helps them work through those constraints to the level of their proficiency.
  • Considers variables from multiple different sources, evaluates, and plans path forward. Understands the details before moving forward.
  • Gives and receives regular feedback to develop people and self. Addresses performance issues through coaching.
  • Works with the learning facilitator to support and create training plans for each process expert.
  • Identifies when training is needed/required for 24/7 team and ensures opportunities are available for team members to obtain the knowledge.
 
 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work rotating shifts
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience required with 3 years in chemical manufacturing preferred.
  • Prior leadership experience preferred
  • Ability to build strong relationships and plan/align with the team.
  • Strong influential leadership skills required
  • Strong verbal/written communication.
  • Advanced coaching skills.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office required with SAP preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple people/tasks/processes.
  • Self-directed, self-starter and ability to operate/prioritize with ambiguity.
  • Shows highest levels of ownership and initiative.
