Role Responsibilities:

The Senior Specialist, MRO Procurement, is responsible for various Maintenance Repair Operations (“MRO”) purchases and associated vendors for designated plant operations.  This individual will be responsible for the development and implementation of sourcing strategies, conducting Request for Quotes/Proposals, negotiating commercial terms, exploring innovative ways of delivering cost savings, and a variety of other procurement activities commonly associated with a procurement role.  The Senior Specialist will engage and interact with our manufacturing plants stakeholders and with other key stakeholders in support of manufacturing operations and services.   

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for both maintenance and capital project procurement
  • Develop and implement local site procurement strategy and coordinate execution of corporate procurement strategy
  • Develop and execute sourcing plans for high value and critical spend including the preparation and issuance of RFQ’s, purchase order or contract negotiation, and managing supplier relations at the plant level.
  • Collaborate with the stakeholders to identify innovative solutions that support supplier consolidation, improved service, delivery, cost, and lead times.
  • Utilize spend data to identify the greatest opportunities for improvement and establish strategies, sourcing plans, and initiatives to drive incremental value.
  • Serve as a point of escalation to resolve any issues.  Proactively address vendor performance issues and engage Commodity Managers where applicable.
  • Manage procurement activities in accordance with corporate, departmental policies and BCP (Business Conduct Policy)
  • Drive daily activities with annual individual and team goals and objectives in mind.
  • Add to bottom line of company by developing and executing cost reduction strategies
  • Lead procurement effort to support turn arounds and emergencies, occasionally after hours
  • Work with legal and suppliers to negotiate legal terms that are favorable to Celanese

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in Procurement within Industrial Manufacturing Industry (Petrochemical or O&G)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Engineering preferred
  • Innovative mindset and ability to create and drive incremental value across organizations
  • Excellent commercial knowledge and business acumen
  • Strong commercial negotiation, contracting, and dispute resolution skills
  • Experience in supplier selection and evaluation 
  • Strong analytical and strategic sourcing skills
  • Excellent people leadership skills, inclusive of development and accountability, problem solving, building peer relationships, and drive for results
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects, setting priorities and working independently.
  • Consistent achievement of cost savings and avoidances
  • Excellent written and verbal communication at all levels within the organization and across the functions
  • Understanding of MRP (material requirements planning), goods receipt, invoicing
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Experienced with MS Office and SAP
