Associate Technician, Environmental, Health & Safety

Overview:

The EHS Technician will be responsible for assisting with implementation of company’s environmental, health, and safety programs and will perform environmental, health, and safety reviews in various areas of the site to ensure compliance with company and government regulated standards.  This individual will represent the EHS team in the field by building rapport and will be an engaged resource to help assist in the prevention of any environmental, occupational injury/illness related losses.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate waste and wastewater management.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental inspections. 
  • Conduct routine safety observations to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, company environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Communicate issues, opportunities for improvement, and positive findings to operations and leadership.
  • Conduct daily field permit audits for work being performed.
  • Review and communicate discrepancies associated with the site Notice of Registration.
  • Maintain all relevant records and documentation for environmental and safety compliance demonstration (inspections, audits, corrective actions, sampling and manifesting).
  • Inspect and document landfills and groundwater recovery wells.
  • Provide support for environmental release response and remediation.  
  • Assist in training endeavors when requested.
  • May respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate EHS concerns.
  • Conduct or assist in investigations providing root cause analysis for onsite incidents, as necessary.
  • Help drive and champion company EHS programs and initiatives.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-5 years of EHS experience preferably within the chemical/petrochemical industry.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal codes as they apply to all aspects of chemical/petrochemical manufacturing areas.
  • Experience in EHS compliance with knowledge of environmental and safety requirements
  • Will be required to be in the field 90% of the time observing, supporting, implementing and overseeing Celanese best practices. 
  • Working 4/10's or 5/8's 

 

Desirable knowledge/skills/abilities:

  • RCRA Training
  • HAZWOPER and/or HAZMAT training
  • OSHA 30 certification
