Advanced Specialist, Product Stewardship

Overview:

This critical PS role is responsible for leading and consulting on Product Stewardship activities for the MCM business unit, regarding regulatory issues for business products and markets/applications. This role has accountability for:

  • Monitoring and analyzing regulatory trends and positions of industry/stakeholder groups, conducting impact analysis, and providing guidance and possible options to mitigate business risk,
  • Ensuring the efficient completion of stewardship-related product introduction deliverables,
  • Promoting sustainable chemical development alternatives and concepts with R&D for products and product lines,
  • And, as needed, participate in external stakeholder meetings and advocacy activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Product Stewardship Reviews and documentation activities for product research and development programs, as well as existing products,
  • Lead New Chemical assessments (R&D and commercialization),
  • New Product, product transfer, and MOC reviews,
  • Lead periodic product line reviews,
  • Customer and R&D sampling (FSOP) reviews for import and export,
  • Product SAP Data Maintenance and US HazCom back up support,
  • Lead implementation of the business' Product Stewardship & Regulatory Managing System and associated processes,
  • Developing tools and managing collaboration sites as needed,
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding product regulatory or product stewardship issues,
  • Develop and gain understanding of complex regulatory and market drivers and their ability to affect product lines,
  • Develop sound business judgment to drive effective business decisions,
  • Collaborate with business and other functional team members in all regions as appropriate,
  • Develop and conduct product stewardship training with the business, technical teams and/or customers as appropriate.

 

Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of business product and market portfolio with thorough understanding of product lifecycle and supply chain impacts of health, safety, and environmental issues. 
  • Demonstrated risk management skills.
  • BS/BA in Science (chemistry, environmental science, or toxicology) or demonstrated in-depth understanding of those principles.
  • 3-5 years business or industry experience
  • Ability to think strategically and complete strategic assessment of regulatory trends.
  • Technical understanding of product lines and knowledge of product regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding technical information/science as it applies to the products, and the ability to translate it for the business context.
  • Product Stewardship and/or regulatory knowledge and experience desired
