Responsibilities:

 

This is an in-person, onsite position located at: Mylar Specialty Films, 5401 Route 1, Richmond, VA

 

General Operators are required to work an 8-hour rotating shift schedule, which will include weekends, holidays, and overtime.

 

Overall Function

Individuals and teams are expected to operate, maintain, and improve their process, material flow, and equipment in performing their work. Operating the process to standard operating conditions, testing, light maintenance, administrative tasks, troubleshooting the process, and managing facilities improvements when needed are all essential parts of, but not limited to, managing their overall role and responsibility.

 

Primary Function

Slitting operators have overall responsibility for the output of the slitting machine and assistance to adjacent operators to maximize efficiency of the finishing area slitting line. This is accomplished by, operating by

SOC, (as available) produce quality products to customer specification per order, i.e.: Type, width, footage, hardness, etc. Produce a maximum of production with a minimum of rejects/waste and quality defects. Maintain accurate production and other administrative records, manage breaks, down time and inventory accuracy for interface system.

 

Working Conditions

  • Temperature ranges from 60°F to 85°F and humidity from 50 to 70 %
  • Stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, reaching is sometimes required.
  • Noise levels at various points in the operation will require that ear protection be worn within prescribed areas. Eye protection is required in designated areas.

 

Required

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must understand and follow all plant and area safety rules and procedures pertaining to the safe operation of the facility.
  • Willing and able to work (a) a rotating shift schedule and (b) overtime.

 

Desired

  • Experience operating a forklift or other similar types of equipment
  • Experience using a plant maintenance software or ERP (resource planning) software, such as VisiTrak or Blaze.

    • Setting up slitting knives for respective chart.
    • Setting up mandrels for respective chart.

    • Removing setups and placing mandrels in slitting machine and removing slit rolls from mandrels & placing on conveyer.
    • Slitting machine changes, replacing razor blades and resetting mandrel.
    • Slitting machine backwind drum.
    • Cutting film from slit rolls & removing frozen slit rolls from mandrels.
    • Cleaning female knife bar on slitting machine.
    • Changing razor blades on slitting machine.
    • Threading up of slitting machine.
    • Removing roll wraps from slitting machine.
    • Core and scanner labeling for slitting area.
    • Individual arm center surface slitter rewinder # 8, 9 (those specifically trained).
    • Making a proper mend.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Additional Qualifications

  • Strict adherence to safety rules, standard practices and SOP's are required.
  • All administrative responsibilities are to be accurate and complete.
  • Adherence to all housekeeping standards are required.
  • Demonstration of proficiency in consistently manufacturing first quality film and meeting quality and quantity standards is required.
  • Must be continually alert to abnormal conditions involving the equipment, process or the environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow instructions (written and verbal) and have an understanding of computers, printouts, and how to access procedures and standard practices.
  • Role requires coordination and interactions with other areas to maintain product / production control.
  • Must possess the ability to work with others and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to manage self in adjusting work patterns in order to assist other slitters.
  • Computer accuracy and other reported results is a necessity.

 

Required
