Responsibilities:

This is an onsite, in-person position located at: 8480 DuPont Road, Washington, WV 26101

 

The Lab Manager's responsibilities will be a mix of office and field time (in the lab operations).  Felt leadership presence on the floor will be required from this role.

 

Approximately 20 lab operations staff will report to the Lab Manager.

The Lab Manager works in a team with lab operations, chemists, technicians, and the quality manager.

 

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the all the Safety, Health and Environmental aspects of the lab.
  • Responsible for conformance to safety requirements.  Lead and participate in safety activities and audits.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for laboratory personnel, addressing inquiries, concerns, and resource needs.
  • Responsible for analytical testing process for a wide variety of engineered polymers.
  • Responsible for molding and physical property testing for products from North America Region.
  • Responsible for meeting all area objectives including test turn-around, calibration, uptime, cost…etc.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback for professional development.
  • Lead and facilitate daily production meetings.
  • Lead and participate improvement projects.
  • Lead and investigate Incidents / Variances/ Customer Complaints (Conduct Problem Solving Sessions – Root Cause Failure Analysis)
  • Responsible for creating the appropriate work environment and executing Human Resource policies.
  • Responsible to work closely with production areas to prioritize work.
  • Coordination with shifts, chemists, and maintenance for analytical needs.
  • Lead improvement and Capital projects throughout the area.
  • Work with maintenance, technical, and operations as needed to trouble shoot area issues or coordinate incident investigations and problem-solving sessions (safety, quality, reliability, etc.).
  • Review and approve area documents.

 

Accountability:

  • Held accountable to Safety, Health, Environmental metrics:  LWC, TRI, OTJ, and any process incidents.
  • This role is accountable for all analytical metrics including Test Time, Test Count, Cost, and Quality.  Accountability is measured by meeting the metrics set by the site.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry)
  • Proven experience in laboratory operations, with at least [3 years] of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Applications, SAP/SAPPM, Sample Manager, or similar lab management software)
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment, calibration, and safety protocols.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

This role will be a mix of office and field time.  Felt leadership presence on the floor will be   required from this role.
