Responsibilities:

  • Apply fundamental principles of chemical engineering to solve technical problems in various processes.
  • Perform heat exchanger rating, hydraulic calculations, relief calculations, and distillation column evaluations to optimize process efficiency and safety.
  • Develop P&IDs, size vessels, lines, heat exchangers, and pumps, and specify equipment through data sheet development.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, codes, and standards while specifying pressure relief devices (PRDs) and other equipment.
  • Document process studies, designs, and evaluations through process letters and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct hazard identification and risk management activities such as FMEA, What If, HAZOP, and LOPA.
  • Facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and participate in Management of Change (MOC) processes.
  • Collaborate with multiple disciplines including Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Projects to execute unit changes and capital projects.
  • Manage competing priorities by providing daily operations support while handling multiple simultaneous projects or assignments.
  • Lead root cause analyses (RCAs) and support tracking of Key Process Indicators (KPIs) to ensure operational excellence.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for unit operations and contribute to startups, shutdowns, and turnarounds.
  • Mentor and coach entry-level process engineers to foster their professional development.

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
  • 7 years of relevant chemical engineering experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; analytical and problem-solving skills; and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, extreme ownership mindset
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Proficient in the use of process engineering software (e.g. Aspen Plus, HTRI, hydraulic tools)
