Responsibilities:

Job Description Summary

Repairs and maintains electrical and instrument equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments. Engages in rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining a variety of machines, equipment, and instruments.

The I & E Tech will work in a team of approximately 13 techs (3-4 on each shift)

 

This is an onsite position located at: 3600 Discovery Drive, Chester, VA 23836

 

Please see the 12-hour rotating shift schedule, at the bottom of this description. 

This Electrical and Instrumentation Technician position will support the site's electrical needs including the installation, maintenance, and repair of the plant equipment in a safe, timely, and craftsman-like manner.

 

Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts:

(shifts are 7:30am - 7:30pm & 7:30pm - 7:30am)

  • The schedule is 28 days in length.
  • During the 28 days, the employee works 14 days and 14 days off.
  • Of the 14 days worked, 7 shifts are days (7:30am - 7:30pm) and 7 shifts are nights (7:30pm - 7:30am)
  • During the 28 days, the employee works 2 weekends in a row, then has 2 weekends off.

The schedule will be similar to 4 days on, 3 days off, 3 days on, 1 day off, 3 days on, 3 days off, 4 days on, 7 days off, etc.

 

Qualifications:

Work Experience / Prior Skills & Knowledge Required Education

  • 3 years or more previous industrial or military experience
  • Basic electricity, ability to read schematics, use test equipment, and use hand tools. 
  • Must be electronically and mechanically inclined.
  • Analytical Thinking
  • Experience with Electronics and Instrumentation
  • Experience using various computer programs and applications.
  • Experience performing simple maintenance and electrical tasks such as mounting objects (cabinets, pictures, etc.) to wall and revamping assigned areas, repairing electrical switches and outlets.
  • Must be familiar with Electrical Safety and National Electric Code
  • Must have knowledge of or be able to learn SAP plant maintenance software; move around on the site’s and company's Intranet; and communicate through e-mail software such as Lotus Notes.
  • Knowledgeable with ISO Audits
  • Experience performing Capital Project work.
  • Must be familiar with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Preferred: PLC Troubleshooting.
  • Preferred: PLC Programming.
  • Experience with Process Control & Monitoring Equipment & Technologies 
  • Preferred – Understands the general process of filmmaking & Polymers.
  • Preferred: Experience performing High Voltage (13,200 Vac) switching for Substation PM and repair work.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Preferred: Associate degree or Training certificate in Instrumentation or Engineering Technology or a completed apprenticeship program
  • Must be able to pass electrical training classes.
  • Must participate in regular refresher courses as they are scheduled and assigned.
