Responsibilities:

JOB TITLE:  Continuous Improvement Process Engineer

 

Location: Mylar Specialty Films, 3600 Discovery Drive, Chester, VA 23836 

This is an onsite, in-person position.

 

Typical schedule: Monday - Friday, daytime hours

Occasionally this position may be required to work on a pre-planned evening, or other time outside of normal working hours.

 

Primary Function:

  • Accountable for understanding the manufacturing process, identifying improvement opportunities, then leading cross functional programs to maximize production output, material conversion efficiency, cost reduction, and product quality.

 

Educational Attainment:

  • Bachelor / Bachelor of Science degree required.
    • Engineering degree is preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.

 

Accountabilities:

 

Operations

  • Lead programs and make data-based decisions to deliver or exceed required site Production Rates, First Pass Efficiency, and Raw Material Efficiency performance.
  • Using lean manufacturing and other approaches to collect and analyze data to identify the opportunity areas with the greatest business impact. Prioritize and execute programs to deliver maximum short-term and long-term financial payback.
  • Ensure site Quality performance meets or exceeds Business Plan on internal rejects and external complaints leading to enhanced customer satisfaction.
  • Sponsor and lead safety, quality, production, and efficiency programs to elevate business results applying critical thinking skills, attention to detail, team engagement, operational excellence, problem solving, and troubleshooting processes.
  • Analyzes data trends and exercises sound judgement based on the data to ensure maximum improvement delivery 
  • Use techniques (eg. RCFA / FMEA) to lead troubleshooting efforts, reduce waste, and debottleneck processes.
  • Provide backup support as needed to manufacturing teams and peers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

SHE – Safety, Health and Environment

  • Working with wider site team to ensure a safe working environment, with adequate regard to Health and Environment issues. Actively seek and assist implementation on programs to improve SHE performance (risk reduction, hazard analysis, etc.).

  • Where applicable, manage direct report(s), adhering to core values on people treatment.
  • Optimize contribution from direct report(s) and manage an active development plan.
  • Actively manage a self-development plan. 
  • Provide effective indirect leadership to all personnel in assigned area to extract maximum effectiveness from area team.

 

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills Needed:

  • 5 years’ experience in a production environment preferred
  • Experience leading FMEA / RCFA processes
  • Demonstrated project management capability and results delivery
  • Working knowledge of ISO and GMP procedures and practices
