Responsibilities:

  • Write specifications for new instruments and electrical equipment, evaluates vendor’s bids, and selects equipment. Oversee the purchases of these devices to ensure delivery, specification compliance and cost and forecast control.
  • Provide engineering consulting services to the site on all instrument and electrical activities.
  • Review new project feasibility and provides innovative use of technology.
  • Provide project management of instrument and electrical focused capital and expense projects ($0M - $5M) for Celanese Bay City Facility as outlined below:
  • Provide project management, technical engineering design, costs, plans, and/or specifications for construction of new hardware installations and reconditioning or altering of existing systems and equipment.
  • Define final project scope, determines best engineering solution, estimates cost, develops funding requests, and manages spending throughout life of project.
  • Based on project requirements, communicates team membership needs to Site supervision to execute the project. Provides timing and direction to this team in order to achieve cost and timing of project.
  • Control costs, forecasting spending, and reporting schedules to Site supervision.
  • Provide detailed engineering design for plant additions and modifications via contract design group.
  • Coordinate/manage contract in-house or off-site engineering and design efforts during engineering, design and drafting phases of project life.
  • Participate in project Safety Reviews (MSR’s), Management of Change (MOC) process, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) and other hand-over activities.
  • Assist in start-up, SOP development and training as required.
  • Ensure all engineering, maintenance and operational documentation is filed and available at time of startup.
  • Manage updates to site electronic file systems, spare parts selection and stocking efforts.
  • Oversee and manage construction activities related to projects.
  • Check for compliance with approved specifications and designs.
  • Perform appropriate construction checkout and readiness reviews before PSSR.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Graduated in 2023, or anticipated graduation in May 2024
  • GPA 2.8 or higher
  • Ability to work in the U.S. with no restrictions (OPT H1b, TN visa currently not supported)
  • Good communication skills
  • Good teamwork skills
  • Good meeting facilitation skills
  • General knowledge of project management tools
  • Ability to understand applicable specifications and standards.

  • Ability to work in and foster a strong team environment with minimal supervision
  • Strong safety champion who will lead the project in achieving zero incidents and injuries
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Self-motivated with ability to originate and adapt to new ideas
