Responsibilities:

The Process Engineer / Line Contact Engineer is responsible for providing day-to-day technical support for the reliable operation of the production lines at the Pensacola Specialty Elastomers Plant. The Process Engineer works closely with the production scheduler to communicate run plans to operations, conducts daily monitoring and optimization of the production lines, and is the first line of technical support in responding to operational problems.  Additional responsibilities include supporting facilities improvement projects, initiating and managing MOC’s, leading investigations, and serving as a gateway for new technology applications on the supported production lines. 

 

Primary functions include:

  • Provide technical ownership for the reliable operation of the production lines to produce prime product, including daily performance and quality monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines, operations, mechanical, and lab personnel
  • Work with the Production Scheduler to effectively communicate daily run plans to the operations team
  • Coordinate technical response to operational issues, engaging other engineering disciplines as needed
  • Work with lab and operations personnel to ensure product quality within appropriate specifications
  • Work with Quality Coordinator to investigate and resolve issues identified through the customer feedback process
  • Consult with internal technical experts, vendors, or outside consultants when necessary
  • Translate technical problems into business risk while communicating a case for action for mitigations or proposed solutions
  • Understand equipment and general plant economic drivers to effectively implement daily optimization
  • Provide process engineering support required for plant turnarounds, product trials, and project development
  • Support advancement of the long term strategy of supported equipment
  • Initiate and steward management of change activities for facilities improvements
  • Assists in the development of operating procedures and technician training

Qualifications:

  • BS in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university
  • At least 3 years of process engineering experience in a Refining, Chemical Plant, or similar environment
  • Proficient with basic computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical & troubleshooting skills, with demonstrated ability to identify and resolve issues through monitoring of performance trends
  • Proven ability to manage short deadlines and emergency situations
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and assist the business unit in prioritizing work items
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of an organization
  • Knowledge of basic economics and justification calculations
