Overview:

Celanese has a commitment to building a strong pipeline of talent through our University Intern Program. Our program targets college students looking for internships the summer before their senior year. The purpose is to work towards full-time opportunities, for a post-graduation start. We are currently recruiting for the 12-week paid internship program that will run from May 22nd to August 11th.

LOCATION WILL BE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: Clear Lake, TX; Florence, KY; Winona, MN; Narrows, VA; Enoree, SC

What can you expect during the internship?  

The 12-week program kicks off with a half day orientation, including an organizational and internship overview, business etiquette, program expectations, policies and conduct. This helps provide foundational knowledge as students move through the program. Over the summer, interns also participate in the following:

  • Exposure to leadership through information sessions and lunch & learns
  • Networking opportunities
  • Giving back through community involvement
  • Manager feedback through midterm and final performance evaluations
  • Social interactions with other interns and interns from years past
  • Participation in video ambassador program
  • Ability to participate in Employee Resource Group events
  • Time to evaluate Celanese for future employment

Responsibilities:

The intern program is designed to provide students hands on, real world projects and ability to contribute to the continued success of the company!

  • Use basic engineering skills to provide solutions for assigned projects 
  • Assist process engineers in problem solving issues that arise 
  • Participate in the personal and process safety improvement process at the site

Example project from past years: 

 

  • Examine the daily tasks performed by our shift mechanics; revised the tasks and developed process improvements for PPE and tools to eliminate safety hazards. Prepared a series of training videos for these tasks to be used to train new employees and refresh existing employees.

 

Qualifications:

Successful interns need to have the following qualifications:

  • Working towards bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering. Graduation date December 2023 or May 2024
  • GPA 2.8 or higher
  • Able to work in the U.S. with no restrictions (OPT H1b, TN visa currently not supported)
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering mathematics
  • Microsoft suite proficiency used to present findings and opportunities to leaders- word, PowerPoint and excel
  • Attention to detail- verbal and written skills used to communicate effectively with leadership and team members
  • Positive attitude and possess learning agility
  • Proven success working in a team environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety
